Brown as president. Brown announced on Aug. 23, 2013, that the 2013-14 academic year would be his last as active president of the university. The 12th president of Arkansas Tech is scheduled to take office on or around July 1, 2014. “The role of our consultants is not to select our next president,” wrote Whiteside in the memo to faculty, staff and students. “Rather, they will help ensure that the search and selection process is managed effectively and that we achieve our goal of securing the best possible leader to continue the momentum established by President Brown. “Jessica and Jacqueline are eager to have your insights into the academic condition and future needs of Arkansas Tech, and to learn your views of the kind of leadership we should be seeking,” continued Whiteside. “Your comments and those of other constituents will be summarized in a report to the search committee. Views expressed in the report will not be attributed to any individual, so I hope you will be candid. This information will help our consultants as they recruit candidates, particularly candidates that match the leadership qualities sought by the campus community.”]]>
