The Arkansas Tech University Department of Diversity and Inclusion has announced that the open mic night scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 23, as part of the institution’s Black History Month celebration has been canceled.
Below is a list of events for the remainder of Black History Month 2016 at Arkansas Tech:
Thursday, Feb. 25 – Tech Talk
- Event begins at noon in Baswell Techionery
- Open forum discussion on #blacklivesmatter and #alllivesmatter movements
Saturday, Feb. 27 – Arkansas Tech Basketball
- Games begin at 1 and 3 p.m. in Tucker Coliseum
- Enjoy basketball and a special student section to watch the games
Saturday, Feb. 27 – Line Dancing Lessons
- Event begins at 6 p.m. in Young Ballroom
- Learn a variety of line dances
- Sponsored by ATU Dance Company, African American Student Association, United Voices of Praise, Alpha Phi Alpha and Omega Psi Phi
Saturday, Feb. 27 – Evening of dancing and Fun
- Event begins at 10 p.m. in the Young Ballroom
- Perform a variety of line dances and enjoy refreshments
Sunday, Feb. 28 – Soul Food Sunday
- Event begins at 3 p.m. in the Young Ballroom
- Enjoy food, a musical presentation and guest speaker
