The Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus occupational therapy assistant program will host “Vision and How it Affects Learning” with Dr. Wanda Vaughn, developmental optometrist with the Arkansas Vision Development Center.
The class, which is free and open to the public, will be Friday, Oct. 30, from 9:30 a.m. – noon in the Student Services Conference Center. The class provides opportunity for professionals to earn one continuing education unit.
Wendi Pool, OTA program chair, said the class isn’t limited to just occupational therapy professionals.
“Dr. Vaughn’s class would be great for teachers and professionals working with children in the education system,” she said. “It’s also great for parents, other professions and the public. Anyone is welcome to sign up.”
Dr. Wanda Vaughn holds a Doctor of Optometry degree from Northeastern State University College of Optometry. She also earned her Master of Science of Science and Bachelor of Science from the University of Central Arkansas.
Vaughn opened the Arkansas Vision Development Center in Fort Smith in 2005. In addition to general optometry care, she specializes in children’s vision and vision rehabilitation for patients with visual dysfunction. The practice currently provides more than 100 hours of therapy each week.
