Arkansas Tech University will present Dr. Stacey Pearson-Wharton, noted university student affairs professional in areas related to diversity, social justice and inclusion, for an educational seminar entitled “When Intent Doesn’t Equal Impact: Healing Relationships In The Wake Of Offense” on Thursday, Jan. 28.
Pearson-Wharton will speak in Ross Pendergraft Library and Technology Center room 300 at 3 p.m. and Doc Bryan Student Services Center Lecture Hall at 6 p.m.
All Arkansas Tech students, faculty and staff are invited to attend either session.
The event was originally scheduled for Nov. 18, but inclement weather interrupted Pearson-Wharton’s travel plans and the appearance was postponed.
Pearson-Wharton “has dedicated herself to helping students maximize their learning, health and wellness and personal growth” and is now sharing that knowledge on campuses around the United States in an effort to “inspire and educate students on taking steps for positive change in their lives and for their communities.”
Pearson-Wharton holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in counseling psychology from Pennsylvania State University. She has worked in university student affairs for almost 20 years, serving in roles such as assistant dean, assistant vice president, counseling center director, staff psychologist, academic advisor, career counselor and residence hall director.
