Arkansas Tech University has announced that it will host a press conference on Friday, April 16, to introduce its new head men’s basketball coach.
The press conference is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Russellville Country Club. The public is invited to attend.
The person introduced at that time will become the 21st head coach in Wonder Boys basketball history.
Arkansas Tech has won 1,155 games and 17 regular season conference championships since founding its men’s basketball program in 1914.
The Wonder Boys were 30-2 overall in 2009-10. Tech was champion of the Gulf South Conference West Division and the GSC Tournament. The Wonder Boys reached the second round of the NCAA Division II Tournament for a second consecutive year.
The head coaching position became vacant on Monday when Mark Downey resigned to become the head men’s basketball coach at his alma mater, the University of Charleston (W. Va.). Downey was head coach at Arkansas Tech from 2006-10.
