Residence Life collected more than 400 food sets from the “Helping Halls” competition today to contribute to the Salvation Army food pantry.
The food will be taken to the Salvation Army this afternoon. Officials say the food pantry at the Salvation Army has been nearly empty so they are excited to help before Thanksgiving.
The residence hall that collects the most food sets will win the competition.
Last year, Arkansas Tech faculty, staff and students collected about 150 sets of food, which helped provide meals for nearly two-thirds of the families the Salvation Army helped feed. Organizers said they originally hoped to collect at least 200 sets of food this year.
Log back on next week to see photos of resident directors volunteering at the Salvation Army.
