Roush Hall Residents Relocated

Conditions in Roush Residence Hall created by an historically wet and humid August have caused Arkansas Tech University to take the precautionary step of relocating the students scheduled to live in that housing facility during the fall 2016 semester.

The damp weather has caused swelling and mildew in the built-in storage located near windows in some Roush Hall rooms.

As a result, the 108 male students scheduled to live in Roush Hall have been assigned to other university-owned student housing.

Arkansas Tech has engaged the services of Environmental Enterprise Group to conduct a thorough review of Roush Hall, which opened in 1963.

“The experts from Environmental Enterprise Group have informed us that all of the prudent steps have been taken to ensure the health of Arkansas Tech students,” said Susie Nicholson, vice president for student services and university relations at Arkansas Tech. “We will continue to seek their counsel as we work to assess Roush Hall and determine next steps relative to the facility. Our focus in the Office of Residence Life will remain on providing living environments that support the well-being of our students and enhance the academic experience.”
