Arkansas Tech University Student Government Association will host an informational program entitled “Dose of Reality” in the Doc Bryan Student Services Center Lecture Hall on Thursday, March 14.
The event will begin at 2 p.m. Those in attendance will receive a free T-shirt on a first come, first served basis while supplies last.
The program is part of the week-long Save AR Students campaign, a statewide effort to reduce substance abuse among Arkansas university and college students.
Among the issues that prompted the effort is the ongoing opioid epidemic. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Arkansas had the second-highest opioid prescription rate in the country in 2017 at a rate of 105.4 percent per 100 persons.
