Severe Weather Alert Day: April 4, 2023

Severe Weather Map 4-4-2023 2

For the second time in five days, the region including both campuses of Arkansas Tech University is on notice for the possibility of severe weather.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a moderate risk for severe weather at ATU in Russellville and Ozark beginning on Tuesday, April 4, and continuing into Wednesday, April 5. Potential hazards include damaging winds, large hail and long-track tornadoes.

Moderate is the second-highest severe weather advisory the National Weather Service may issue. As a means of comparison, Little Rock was under an enhanced risk (third-highest level) for severe weather before the tornado outbreak on Friday, March 31.

If it materializes, the severe weather is projected to reach ATU’s campuses in the evening and overnight hours on Tuesday, April 4.

If the severe weather leads to any building issues (including leaks in any ATU facilities), those who discover the issues are asked to contact the ATU Office of Facilities Management at (479) 968-0261 for assistance.
