The National Weather Service has notified the public that severe weather is likely in Arkansas during the overnight hours on Monday, May 3, 2021.
Arkansas Tech University campuses in Russellville and Ozark are included in a region that faces an enhanced risk for severe weather. Damaging straight line winds of up to 80 miles per hour and up to golf ball sized hail are the primary threats with the storm system, which is forecast to arrive in western Arkansas at 9 p.m. and then make its way across the northern half of the state.
The National Weather Service in Little Rock is advising residents of the advised area to have multiple ways of receiving warnings in case they are asleep when the storms arrive.
