Severe Weather Alert Days: April 2-5, 2025

Members of the Arkansas Tech University community are encouraged to be aware of the potential for severe weather and flooding beginning Wednesday, April 2, and continuing through at least Saturday, April 5.

The National Weather Service reports that the majority of Arkansas is under an enhanced risk for severe weather on Wednesday, April 2. Threats will include tornadoes, large hail and damaging straight line winds. The greatest threat for those factors will be east of Little Rock, but the ATU campuses are included in the enhanced risk zone.

The more widespread threat for this week is excessive rain.

Forecasts are calling for rainfall amounts at ATU in Russellville and Ozark of 8-to-10 inches from Wednesday, April 2, through Saturday, April 5.

Russellville campus parking lots XX, YY, and ZZ, located on the west side of North Glenwood Avenue, will be closed beginning at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, in anticipation of flooding in that area.

It is possible that other flood-prone areas on and near the ATU campus in Russellville may experience issues. This includes the intersection of North Arkansas Avenue and West O Street.

Members of the ATU community are reminded to practice caution when encountering flood waters.
