Pleasant View Park in Russellville will play host to a softball tournament that will raise funds for a scholarship at Arkansas Tech University on Saturday, June 19.
Entry fee for the fourth annual B.J. Burton Memorial Softball Classic is $160 per team. All proceeds go to the B.J. Burton Memorial Scholarship Fund at Arkansas Tech.
Burton was a 1998 graduate of Arkansas Tech with a degree in agriculture business. She worked for the Russellville School District and was a former owner of the Bayou Bridge Cafe in Dover.
Burton died in a car accident on Interstate 40 near Russellville on July 31, 2006.
Soon after Burton’s passing, former Tech faculty member Rexann Oller made a donation to the Arkansas Tech Foundation to establish the B.J. Burton Memorial Scholarship Fund.
