One hundred high school and college students from around the State of Arkansas will participate in a STEM Leadership for Girls workshop at Arkansas Tech University on Thursday, March 31.
Participants will learn about a variety of skills and careers in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields, including 3-D printing, electric circuits, robotics and computer forensics.
The keynote address will be delivered by Elaine Hines Cobb, a member of the management team at L’Oréal in Little Rock.
“The basic premise of the event is to put faculty and STEM professionals in a setting where they can inspire young women,” said Victor Dreier, director of the Arkansas Tech STEM Institute. “We want young women to know that the STEM fields are for them, and if they have interests there are so many opportunities.”
The March 31 workshop is at capacity. Individuals interested in other educational opportunities provided by the Arkansas Tech STEM Institute may visit www.atu.edu/stem.
