Freshmen Arrive Saturday

Arkansas Tech University will look quite different on Saturday as hundreds of students arrive on the campus to begin their collegiate experience.

Students in Nutt Hall will begin moving in at 7 a.m. Saturday morning.

All other residence halls will welcome students from odd numbered floors at 8:30 a.m., while students in even numbered floors will arrive at 10:30 a.m.

Once students are settled in, they’ll be able to register for the 2012 Go Bold Welcome Week in the Young Game Room.

Welcome Week is designed to help students get acclimated to the college atmosphere, life in a residence hall and Arkansas Tech traditions.

Over the course of the week, students will be able to participate in a variety of activities as part of the program.

The Office of Student Services has also planned several activities Saturday to help parents and students adjust to the transition to college.

Students and their parents can enjoy lunch Saturday from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. in Chambers Cafeteria.  The lunch costs $5.90 plus tax, and organizers say Tech staff members will be on hand to answer any questions students and parents may have.

Parents will have a send-off session at 2:30 p.m. in the Doc Bryan Rotunda.  The informal session is designed to give parents an opportunity to ask any last-minute questions.

Students will begin meeting with their resident assistants in the residence halls Saturday afternoon to learn more about Arkansas Tech and ways to get connected to campus.
