Tech Alumnus Named Offensive Coordinator

Arkansas Tech University alumnus Chris Gunter has been named the new offensive coordinator at Greene County Tech.  Prior to joining the Golden Eagles, Gunter has coached at the University of Tulsa and at Arkansas Tech.

Gunter coached under Gus Malzhan in Tulsa where he helped coach one of the top offenses in the nation.

While at Greene County Tech, Gunter will work with wide receivers in addition to his role as the offensive coordinator.

Gunter says he believes his transition to coaching high school football will allow him to make an impact.

“I really had a passion for the college game, and I still do,” he added. “But, the amount of kids that filter in and out of your program (in high school), the numbers will grow in the amount of kids you can touch every year. God has blessed me with this opportunity and I’m not looking back.”

As a coach, Gunter says he wants his players to leave the football program as better young men than they were when they entered.

He added, “We’ve to take care of our kids and make sure they are men of character on and off the field.  The (wins) will come if we can take care of the little things. There’s no doubt in my mind that will happen.”
