The Arkansas Tech University Symphonic and Concert Bands, under the direction of Hal Cooper, will present a winter concert Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. in the Witherspoon Building Auditorium.
The concert is free of charge, and the public is invited to attend.
The Concert Band will begin the program with a new opening number entitled “Ricochet” by Sean O’Loughlin. The band will also present a piece entitled “Divergents,” which is written by W. Francis MacBeth, Arkansas Composer Laureate. The band will close their portion of the program with a collection of patriotic tunes in the work “Concord,” which is arranged by Claire Grundman.
The Symphonic Band will begin their portion of the program with “Morning Star.” The piece is by award winning composer David Maslank. Next, the Symphonic Band will perform a work by Vincent Persichetti entitled “Divertimento,” which Cooper says “features five humorous and beautiful settings of original music.”
The baritone and bassoon sections will be featured in the piece “Melody Shop” by K.L. King. The Symphonic Band will close the concert with a performance of William Hill’s “Dances Sacred and Profane.”
