Students, faculty and staff at Arkansas Tech have the chance to help save the lives of others today. The Arkansas Tech Student Government Association and the Volunteer Action Council are teaming up with the American Red Cross for a blood drive.
The drive will take place in Room 242 of the Doc Bryan Student Services Building, and those wishing to donate can do so between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
SGA member and Volunteer Action Council Chairperson Savanna Knight says those wishing to donate do not need an appointment to give blood.
Knight says she hopes many students will participate. She adds, “This is a great way to make a difference because someone in the United States needs blood every two seconds. Having a supply of blood means those individuals receive another chance at life.”
Organizers say it takes less than an hour to donate blood, and according to the American Red Cross, one unit of blood can save up to three lives.
Students, faculty and staff with O negative and O positive blood types are encouraged to donate. For more about the drive, email Knight at sknight2@atu.edu.
