The Wonder Boys have won four consecutive games, three of which have been decided by three points or less. Willie Kirkland scored a career-high 31 points and made the game-winning layup with 1.3 seconds left at Henderson State on Saturday. He was named GAC men’s basketball player of the week. Arkansas Tech ranks second in the GAC and eighth nationally in field goal percentage defense (.391). About the Boll Weevils: Arkansas-Monticello used suffocating defense to defeat Arkansas Tech 56-49 in the first men’s basketball meeting of the season between the two programs on Jan. 17 in Monticello. The Boll Weevils forced the Wonder Boys into a season-high 25 turnovers. UAM leads the GAC and ranks ninth in NCAA Division II in scoring defense (59.9 points allowed per game).
