Tech Love Story: Brad & Stephanie

Arkansas Tech alumni Brad and Stephanie Morgan met as students attending the Baptist Collegiate Ministry with a little bit of a rocky start.

“When we met for the first time I went for a high five, and she went for a hand shake,” said Brad. “To make it more awkward we both switched, me to a hand shake, her to a high five.”

After getting acquainted, the two went to dinner with a group of friends to celebrate Singles Awareness Day, an opposite holiday to Valentine’s Day.

“After dinner the group was going to go back and play Catchphrase in our dorm.,” said Brad. “She was hesitant because she didn’t know many people but decided to come. We started dating a few weeks after that night.”

The two dated throughout their collegiate years, and in October of 2008 Brad hatched a plan to propose.

“I told a few friends, and we came up with a plan. We were going to play Catchphrase in our dorm, but instead of actually describing a clue, one of my friends was going to describe getting married,” said Brad. “After guessing for a bit, my friend told everyone the clue was ‘what Brad is about to do.’ I pulled out a ring, got down on one knee and asked her to marry me in front of all of our friends in our college dorm room.”

The couple married on July 18, 2009, and they welcomed a son in September of 2012.

Currently, Brad is a student pastor at First Baptist Church in Stuttgart, while Stephanie stays home with their little boy.
