Game 1: Tech 12, ECU 2 Ryan Taylor’s arm and James Sharp’s bat paced Arkansas Tech to a 12-2 victory over East Central in the series opener on Friday night. Taylor (2-1) allowed two runs, one of which was earned, on six hits over seven innings. He struck out nine and walked two. Sharp was 2-for-4 with five runs batted in. Patrick Castleberry hit a two-run home run and Mike Kattula added a solo homer for the Wonder Boys. The game was stopped after seven innings due to the mercy rule. Game 2: ECU 9, Tech 1 East Central starting pitcher Oscar Gomez led the Tigers to a 9-1 victory over Arkansas Tech in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader. Gomez (1-0) limited the Wonder Boys to one run on five hits over eight innings. He recorded five strikeouts and issued two walks. Ethan Gold was 3-for-5 with two runs batted in for East Central. Zac Johnson drove in Arkansas Tech’s lone run with a solo home run in the fifth inning. Game 3: ECU 7, Tech 3 East Central used a six-run top of the fourth inning to come from behind and defeat Arkansas Tech 7-3 in the series finale on Saturday evening. Josh Lavender’s three-run home run was the big blow in the Tigers’ fourth-inning rally. ECU starting pitcher Icezack Flemming (2-3) earned the win by holding the Wonder Boys to three runs, one of which was earned, on nine hits over seven innings.]]>
