Arkansas Tech University will recognize the importance of women in the workplace during Women’s Week with a week of events on the Arkansas Tech campus.
The festivities will run from March 7-12, and the schedule of events planned includes:
Walk a Mile Sexual Assault Awareness Rally
- Monday, March 7 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Hindsman Tower
- Students will learn about sexual assault and campus resources available
- Co-sponsored by the Student Activities Board
Willpower Method
- Monday, March 7 from 6-7 p.m. in the Hull Dance Studio
- Students will enjoy a full body workout featuring a blend of exercise techniques
- Co-sponsored by Campus Recreation
Masculinity Jeopardy
- Monday, March 7 from 7-8 p.m. in the Baswell Techionery
- Students play jeopardy on a variety of topics including masculinity, gender identity and gender myths
- Co-sponsored by the Interfraternity Council
Lunch with a Leader
- Tuesday, March 8 from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. in the Chambers Cafeteria West Dining Room
- Students will learn from a panel of women employed in underrepresented fields
Open Mic Night
- Tuesday, March 8 from 9-11 p.m. in the Baswell Techionery
- Students will be able to participate with spoken word, music or poetry
Salary Negotiation Workshop
- Wednesday, March 9 from 5:30- 7:30 p.m. in the Doc Bryan Senate Room
- Learn more about how to research comparable market salaries for industry positions
- Co-sponsored by Norman Career Services
Vixen or Visionary: The Depiction of Women of Color in the Media
- Thursday, March 10 from 6-8 p.m. in Rothwell Hall Room 138
- Forum discussing women of color in the media
- Co-sponsored by the Department of Diversity and Inclusion
A League of Their Own
- Friday, March 11 at 9 p.m. at the Tech Baseball Field
- Students can enjoy a free screening of the iconic movie A League of their Own
- Co-sponsored by the Student Activities Board
Women’s Leadership Conference
- Saturday, March 12 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. in Rothwell Hall
- Conference features sessions on personal growth, activism, equity and women’s empowerment
- Registration for the conference is taking place on the Campus Life page on theLink.
- Cost to attend is $15. Deadline to register is Wednesday, March 9.
#LikeGirl Contest
- Students are invited to show what they do like a girl on social media
- To be eligible to win a $25 Visa gift card, students should use the hashtag #ATULikeAGirl
- Contents runs all week long
Juried Student Art Exhibition
- View art from Tech students showcasing different viewpoints on women’s issues, history, empowerment and leadership
- Display available throughout the week in the Witherspoon Lobby
