The Upward Bound program at Arkansas Tech University is a college preparation grant program for high school students in the communities surrounding Russellville.
The program is structured to help students prepare for the upcoming academic year, and students from the following high schools are participating in the program at Tech:
- Atkins

During the summer session, students live in the residence halls and are taught by a team of university personnel in a variety of subjects including math, science, English and other elective areas.
In addition to taking academic courses, the students will have the opportunity to utilize campus technology to develop computer skills and review skills needed for the ACT exam.
At the end of the summer session, the students will take part in a cultural trip to Dallas.
The Upward Bound program is under the umbrella of TRIO, a federal initiative created in 1965 to overcome class, social and cultural barriers to higher education. Arkansas Tech has been approved to administer the program through 2017.
The summer program will conclude Friday, July 1.
