Athletics brought T.J. May to Arkansas Tech University the first time. When he returned to continue his education, he had a new perspective on the value of a college degree.
A 2007 graduate of Danville High School, May attended ATU for three years and played football for the Wonder Boys before enlisting in the U.S. Army.
“I can tell you one thing, after digging foxholes for four years, you start realizing that piece of paper is important,” said May. “It’s been a big adjustment going from active duty to being a civilian here on campus, but I’m making the transition and everybody is working with me. What really helped me was reorganizing my study habits. You’ve got to put in the time to get the grades.”
May (photographed with Jerry the Bulldog, ATU campus ambassador) will earn his Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture business from Arkansas Tech in 2017.
