Arkansas Tech freshman forward Jessica Weatherford has earned Gulf South Conference West Division player of the week honors for the first time in her career.
Weatherford, a 6-footer from Bonnerdale, posted consecutive double-doubles in the Golden Suns’ wins over Ouachita Baptist and Delta State last week.
She had a then career-high 23 points and a career-high 11 rebounds in Tech’s 78-74 win at Ouachita Baptist on Thursday, Jan. 21.
Two days later, against one of the best frontcourts in all of NCAA Division II, Weatherford put up a career-high 24 points and matched her career high with 11 rebounds during the Suns’ 56-47 victory over nationally second-ranked Delta State.
For the season, Weatherford is averaging 11.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. She is an 89.6 percent free throw shooter, seventh-best in NCAA Division II.
