Wilson Whitlock of North Little Rock is the champion of the 14th annual Arkansas Tech University Juried Student Competitive Exhibition.
A senior fine arts major, Whitlock captured first place with his submission of an acrylic painting on canvas entitled “Freakstop.” It depicts the artist’s imaginative view of a convenience store filled with colorful characters.

Melissa Wilkinson, associate professor of art at Arkansas State University, served as juror. Prizes for the winners were made possible through financial support from the Bridgestone Americas Trust Fund.
The awards were announced during a virtual ceremony on Wednesday, Feb. 24. Neal Harrington, professor of art and director of the ATU Norman Hall Art Gallery, served as master of ceremonies.
Fifty-one pieces are on display in the show. They were created by nine seniors, 12 juniors and four freshmen from Arkansas Tech.
The exhibition will remain available for public viewing at Norman Hall Art Gallery, 203 West Q Street in Russellville, weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. through March 12.
