Defense and rebounding helped Arkansas Tech University defeat Emporia State University 79-59 in non-conference men’s basketball at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville on Saturday evening.
The Wonder Boys (1-1) held the Hornets to 38 percent shooting from the field (23-of-61), including 20 percent from 3-point range (5-of-25). Arkansas Tech out-rebounded Emporia State 44-32.
Ramses Sandifer led all players in scoring (20 points) and rebounds (11) for his second career double-double at Arkansas Tech. The senior forward from Arcola, Miss., was 4-of-5 from beyond the 3-point arc.
R.J. Glasper had 18 points and eight assists, Devante Foster notched 14 points and eight rebounds, Dillon Gooding contributed 11 points and Tony Hall added 10 points for the Wonder Boys.
Brenden Van Dyke scored a team-high 15 points for the Hornets (0-2).
Arkansas Tech will continue the non-conference portion of its 2019-20 men’s basketball schedule by hosting Champion Christian College for a 6 p.m. contest on Thursday, Nov. 14.
