Tech scored the final 24 points of the game to win going away in the first game of its 99th football season. Luke Halpin completed 25-of-34 passes for 272 yards and two touchdowns in his debut as the Wonder Boys’ starting quarterback. Eleven different Arkansas Tech players made at least one reception. John Simpson made five catches for 52 yards and two touchdowns. Tony Adams had five receptions for 59 yards and Jonathan Keener contributed four catches for 73 yards. The Wonder Boys held Northwestern Oklahoma State (0-1, 0-1) to 214 yards of total offense. It was the best performance by an Arkansas Tech defense in terms of total offense allowed since Oct. 22, 2011, when the Wonder Boys limited the Southeastern Oklahoma State offense to 214 total yards. Arkansas Tech will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 14, when it hosts Southwestern Oklahoma State University (1-0, 1-0) for a 6 p.m. GAC contest at Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field in Russellville.
