Several student organizations are joining forces to present the first ever WonderWeek. The week of festivities will begin on Monday, February 15, and will run through Thursday, February 18, and includes the chance to win thousands of dollars in prizes.
The Student Government Association, Student Activities Board, Residence Hall Association and the Greek community are collaborating to oversee the week of events.
The first event will take place Monday evening when the Student Government Association hosts Let’s Make a Deal. The game show will take place in the Doc Bryan Student Services Building Lecture Hall. The doors open at 8:30 p.m., and the game show will begin at 9 p.m.
Tuesday evening the Student Activities Board will host Big Money Bingo. During the event, students will play bingo for the chance to win more than $1000 in prizes. The event will take place in Tucker Coliseum, and the first bingo call begins at 9 p.m.
The Residence Hall Association will host Casino Night on Wednesday evening in the Young Game Room. The event begins at 7 p.m. and will feature a black light theme, which will include glow-in-the-dark chips.
WonderWeek will conclude on Thursday with the event Gold Rush prior to the Arkansas Tech basketball games. The event begins at 3:30 p.m. with tailgating and a pep rally outside Tucker Coliseum. The first 700 students at the basketball games will receive a free gold t-shirt to commemorate the Gold Rush.
Students, faculty and staff attending the game are encouraged to wear gold to show their support for the Wonder Boys and Golden Suns. The Golden Suns will play at 5:30 p.m., and the Wonder Boys hit the hardwood at 7:30 p.m.
During each event, Tech students will also be able to help the less fortunate in the River Valley. The Greek community will be collecting canned food items during each WonderWeek event. At the end of the week, the collected items will be donated to the Main Street Mission.
WonderWeek organizers say more than $8,000 in prizes will be given away throughout the week, and a valid Tech identification card is required to participate in any of the events.
